ABOUT US

Empowering Nations is a pro-active, volunteer-run non-profit organization committed to empowering the poor through education and relief, and to promoting and facilitating involvement in the fight against poverty throughout the world.

Empowering Nations was founded in 2002 by Dr. Warner Woodworth, a professor at Brigham Young University and a world-renowned expert in international development. The other founders are college students committed to making a difference in the lives of others. Since its inception, Empowering Nations has sponsored projects in Somalia and Brazil. Both projects were funded in part by grants from the Office of Research and Creative Activity, and in part by the generous donations of our participating volunteers.

Most recently, Empowering Nations, along with HELP International have been the proud sponsors of Wave of Hope, a project that provided reconstruction assistance to the tsunami victims of Thailand during the summer of 2005.

Now, Empowering Nations is looking to continue the fight against poverty by facilitating effective, development-focused service opportunities for volunteers in the summer of 2006. Possible projects include carrying out micro-credit trainings in Peru and working on AIDS awareness campaigns in Ghana. The website will be updated with the future projects as soon as they are decided and confirmed.
